Honda’s Thailand Manufacturing Facility Resumes Production

Honda New Zealand today welcomed the news that production has resumed at Honda’s Thailand automobile production facility.

Production came to an abrupt halt six months ago, when catastrophic floods devastated Thailand in October 2011. As a result, Honda has been supplying alternative automobiles from Japan to some countries in the Asia Oceania region to ensure continuity of supply.

Following extensive efforts to drain flood water, clean, inspect, repair and replace plant facilities and manufacturing equipment damaged by the flood, production resumed this week and is expected to be fully stabilised in April.

Honda’s Thailand production facility is located in the Ayutthaya province of Thailand and produces 4.5 per cent of global Honda vehicle supplies, with a production capacity of 240,000 units per year.
