CRV - Advanced Active Safety
Advanced Active Safety incorporates three core Honda technologies - Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist and the Collision Mitigating Braking System.
Adaptive Cruise Control expands cruise control to automatically adjust vehicle speed with the speed variations in traffic flows and retain a selected following distance. When a vehicle is detected ahead of the car, the cruise control will activate the brakes, slowing the car down to match the speed of the preceding vehicle. As the vehicle in front accelerates and brakes, the ACC system will engage the throttle and brakes to follow, up to the set maximum speed. When you pull out to the next clear lane, the car automatically accelerates to the set speed.
The Lane Keep Assist System is designed for dual carriageways and keeps an eye on the road lane markings, so if the driver starts to drift across lanes, the car will automatically adjust the steering to correct.
Active at speeds over 72km, LKAS detects lane markings and provides steering assistance on gentle corners. The main functions of the system are to actively keep the vehicle in the centre of the lane and to warn when the vehicle leaves the lane.
Audible warnings are given by the system in the following situations:
Hands are off the steering wheel
- The vehicle is about to cross the lane markings
- LKAS needs driver steering input on the corners
- The system is deactivated as lane markings are no longer detected (a single beep is heard)
The Collision Mitigation Braking System detects significant speed variances between cars or large stationary obstacles. It alerts the driver to potential collision situations with time to reduce speed, impact or mitigate a collision. There are three alerts- visual, audible and then seat belt vibration. If the driver does not respond to these alerts, the vehicle will brake strongly and the seat belt will be firmly retracted to lessen the collision impact and injury.
